Werit takes on a probe

Courtesy of Ardua and Girl IRL....

1. What is your current main character’s name (or names, if you play multiple games)? Explain how you chose the name.

My main was Werit, until a server merge occurred. The clever Dwarf that I am reversed it and is now known as Tirew. I chose that name for this blog originally. It wasn't until WAR launched that Id decided to use it as a character name. I got it from a Warhammer dictionary.

2. What was the name of your very first character in an MMO? Explain how you chose that name.

I actually don't remember. My first MMO was Neverwinter Nights on AOL about 15 years ago. It was likely my AOL account name, as that is what we were forced to use. Imagine all the blah123 names running around.

3. Have you kept a specific name through various games, or do you tend to change your naming habits based on the individual game?

Up until now, I have changed names quite a bit. Werit seems to have stuck though, so I will likely use it in forthcoming games.

4. Do you ever reserve names, planning to use them for characters that you might play later? If so, what are they and why do you hold on to them?

Nah, I never really know if I will be alt happy or not. Most of the time the name isn't a big deal. Although, with Champions Online, I may have to try and reserve some choice names.

5. Of the three common archetypes in MMOs — tank, healer, DPS — which is your current main character?

Tirew is an Engineer, so DPS would be the closest.

6. What archetype was your very first character in an MMO? Why did you choose it?

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I want to say my NWN character was a Ranger. We could dual class, so he might have been a Ranger/Warrior. Rangers are cool.

7. Are you usually attracted to one archetype over another, or do you play them equally? Why?

I tend to choose an archtype based on the game... most often dps or tank. Healing just doesn't do it for me.

8. What is your favorite feature from an MMO you no longer play?

That would be Star Wars Galaxies. Sci-fi, open world, space combat, housing, great crafting, beast master system.... I should still be playing it. Hmmm.

9. Is there an MMO that you would play if it was free? Which and why?

Probably none. Cost isn't the limiting factor; time is. If I had more time, I'd play SWG most likely.

10. How do you measure the success of a character in an MMO (total kills, titles accumulated, wealth, rare items collected, level reached, etc.)?

I tend to not play games for success, I save that for the real world. So I just do what is fun, and when it isn't fun I move on.
