Succeeding in WAR means knowing how to equip yourself for a fight. In recent patches, a ton of new weapons have been added to the game. To help find the right fit, I made a new item database called the Arsenal of WAR.
The Dressed to Kill contest ends tomorrow morning! Be sure to get your screenshots in. There have been some really nice submissions so far. I am still working out how to show them all off and get them judged, more info on that later this week.
The last couple of weeks have been filled with RvR Pack news from gaming events in Cologne and Baltimore. While we did get some good information from the attendees, Mythic wanted to take a more direct route with their players. Andy, community manager, started up a Q&A thread on the forums.
After a short vacation, the News from the Front has returned! You guys may have missed it, but Mythic announced the RvR Pack. Next time I'll try to cover it more. The 1.3.6 patch has been overshadowed by the Pack news, but has been a lot of fun. It just might be the best Warhammer Online patch yet. On to the community news.
I'm starting to run out of titles for these posts. Yesterday saw some interesting news for Warhammer's RvR Pack. Nothing too exact, but it definitely gives us an idea of what to expect, especially when it comes to Skaven. Read on for the details.
One of the lesser known features of Warhammer's 1.3.6 patch is the addition of several new emotes. They don't have animations but are fun none the less. I put together a list all of the emotes in Warhammer Online, including the new ones. You can find it after the break.
A new interview is up from Gamescom. This one comes to us from WAR-Welten and is a 30 minute video. It is in English, so be sure to watch it. It's a great way to slack err... spend your lunch hour. I did pick out some of the interesting bits, read them after the jump.
Now that we are not at the mercy of our loot, we can start looking somewhat decent. The appearance system, introduced in 1.3.6, allows for lot more customization. To celebrate, it is time for a contest! Yep, win stuff just for looking good. Read on for the details.
Did you think the Warhammer Online news was over? Not quite yet. We'll be getting more news as attendees get their articles up. I'm not expecting any great revelations, but the picture of the RvR Pack should become a bit more clear.
With Gamescom and Gamesday Baltimore complete, it's now time to reflect on what we've heard. The reaction from the community has been mixed, which is not surprising. I'm actually torn about the announcement of the RvR Pack.
I wasn't expecting to do another news post after yesterday's, but some new information has become available. It isn't anything groundbreaking, but worth a read none the less. Even though I was disappointed yesterday, my overall outlook is positive. More on that tomorrow though.
No News from the Front this week, instead more coverage of Mythic's visit to Gamescom. Yesterday we learned two things. First, the RvR pack will be split into 3 parts (Power, Progression and Personality) which can be separately purchased. Secondly, there will be a new RvR zone. What will today's news bring us?
Yesterday was Press Day at the Gamescom conference. Today it officially opens to the public. A little bit of WAR news did leak out, which has been getting a mixed reaction. The problem is, what we got was more of a blurb rather than an actual interview. Will Day 2 be better?
The first bit of WAR info has made its way out of Gamescom! Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg. I will update this page with new info throughout the day. So, what does Mythic have planned for us?
Even though 1.3.6 has launched, there are still a bunch of new weapon models to show off. I'm not the biggest Elf fan, but these Axes do look pretty cool. Not as cool as last weeks rifles though. Today we should also get word on WAR's big news! Rest assured there will be a post about it when I know something. On to the weapons!
Today, Warhammer Online's 1.3.6 patch comes to the live servers. I am pretty excited about this one. The first thing I plan on doing is hopping on my Tier 3 Slayer and making my way to the High Pass RvR lake. I expect some good action with players checking out the new Skaven spawns. While we wait, here is plenty of stuff to keep you busy.
For the first time over the 2+ years of this blog, I will try a poll. Easy question, what do you think Mythic will announce at Gamescom this week? The poll (to the right) has some of the common rumors, choose as many as you want. Things like DAoC 2 would go under Cheetos. If I missed a good option, post it in a comment.
In part 1, we took a look at the new Auction House changes and other nice features which may be overlooked in the behemoth that is 1.3.6. This time, we will take a peek at some of the bigger changes coming our way, which we will most likely see tomorrow on live!
It has been a quiet week for Warhammer Online, but that is all about to change. Friendly collision detection was the hot topic and the outcome is still uncertain. It looks like we won't have to wait long to find out though. Mythic will be hitting up Gamescom next week and it looks like 1.3.6 will be hitting the live servers too!
As you probably know, the big WAR topic this week is whether or not friendly collision should be removed in the 1.3.6 patch. Enemy collision detection would remain even if its counterpart is disabled. There is a rather long thread about it on the official forums. What do I think?
As I mentioned a couple of days ago, last weeks PTS event had a special focus on testing with friendly collision disabled. In this video, we will take a look at some open field RvR and close quarters combat at Chillwind in Eatine. It turned out to be a rather surprising fight.
One of the best parts about playing an Engineer is that you get to carry around a rifle. In WAR's 1.3.6 patch a bunch of new rifle models were added to the game. The new rifle models span all of the tiers. With the appearance system, you should be able to use some of these to make your Engineer look even better.
Large scale conflicts are one of Warhammer Online's best features. This has not always been the case since poor performance limited the viability of these battles. The game has come a long way over the last year and performance is better than ever. For 1.3.6, Mythic is looking to improve these massive clashes even more.
NOTE:Part 2 is up. It shows more of the collision tests which were done.
This week has been pretty quiet as far as WAR news goes. With Gamescom rapidly approaching, I suspect Mythic is busy preparing for it and the 1.3.6 patch. The community remains active, especially with anticipation of the 'announcement.'
I thought today I'd do something a little different and write about Warhammer Online's upcoming 1.3.6 patch. I know, totally unpredictable. Patches are usually categorized by their biggest feature. 1.3.6 will probably be known as the Sovereign patch, but there is a lot more to it.
On Friday, BioWare Mythic held the first of two events on the Public Test Server for Warhammer Online's 1.3.6 patch. The goal of this one was to get a lot of players together and gauge the performance. As advertised, there was a twist to this test, which could have a big affect on WAR. Find out more, and watch a video, after the break.
If I had to play a Destruction race, it would be the Greenskins. They just have so much cool stuff. In 1.3.6, Black Orc's received several new models for their scenario shields. As we have seen with others, there is also a new shield model which doesn't appear to be used in the game yet. What could it be for?
Ever since the introduction of the 6 versus 6 scenario, The Ironclad, many players have asking for another one. In a recent interview, Carrie announced that they are working on one called The Eternal Citadel. Thursday night, a test of this new scenario was held on the PTS. Continue on for a video of The Eternal Citadel and a contest!
