1.4.3 Miscellany

The 1.4.3 patch and Sigmartide have been live for a few days now.  I've had a bunch of posts on the subject, but I did miss a few things.  Aspects of Fire got a new skill, the EA Store got a new item are a couple of examples.  Continue on for the details.

Sigmartide Live Event Tasks

Sigmartide and 1.4.3 have gone live!  I took a few screenshots of the tasks and rewards, which can be found past the break.  This isn't a proper guide, so get out there and see what's going on.

1.4.3 Arrives Today

In just a little while, the Warhammer Online servers will go down and be brought up with 1.4.3.  The big feature of this patch is the new Sigmartide Live Event, which includes a new scenario: the College of Corruption.  It is also introducing some career changes and 5 new accessory sets.  Read on for more details about the 1.4.3 patch.

1.4.3 and the Career Builder

Over the weekend, I brought the WARdrobe career builder up to version 1.4.3, in preparation for this weeks patch.  Hopefully we will see that tomorrow!  There were not that many changes, but Engineers and Magus did get some attention.  Continue on for the details.

The Next Few Weeks

It's looking like the next few weeks will be pretty busy for me when it comes to MMO's.  As usual, I am subscribed to 2 games: Warhammer Online and Star Trek Online.  Both of which have something going on very soon. Read on for what will be keeping me busy.

Accessory Update

Last week we got our first look at the new accessory sets coming to Warhammer Online in 1.4.3.  These new items were introduced to provide players more options, instead of just replacing the Tomb of the Vulture Lord set.  This week, a small but important change was made to the new sets.

New Tactic for Ranged DPS

Late last week, Mythic announced a career change affecting Engineers, Shadow Warriors and Squig Herders.  Basically, one of the lesser used tactics would be dropped in favor of a new one meant to improve their physical damage.  This has long been an issue of concern among players of those careers.  Read on for the details.

Aspect of Fire

In the upcoming Sigmartide scenario, the College of Corruption, you can take on the form of an Aspect of Fire.  When in this form, you gain access to several new skills to use against your enemy.  Are they worth losing your class skills?  It all depends on how you use them.  Continue on for a video and a closer look at this Play as Monster experience.

College of Corruption Feedback

During last weeks PTS testing, we got a chance to checkout the new scenario, the College of Corruption.  Personally, I enjoyed it quite a bit.  The setting was nice and the Aspects of Fire were fun. As is customary, Mythic opened up a feedback thread and asked some questions.  Continue on for my answers.

College of Corruption Video

Yesterday during the PTS event, we got our first look at the new scenario: the College of Corruption.  I played a  few instances of it and took some video.  Mythic experimented with the amount of people playing from test to test, which you may notice in the video.  18 vs 18 was tried first, then 6 vs 6.  Continue on for the video.

PTS Events Today

The upcoming 1.4.3 patch will usher in the new live event, Sigmartide.  One of the primary features of the event is a new scenario called The College of Corruption (or the CoC).  Taking place in the Bright Wizard College, Order and Destruction will battle it out making use of Aspects of Fire.

1.4.3 Accessory Sets

In the upcoming 1.4.3 patch, there will be new accessory sets for players to purchase.  They will be bought with 50 Officer Medallions (per piece) and decay in 9 real-time days.  They are available at your realms Commodity Quartermaster in the capital city.  Continue on for links to the new sets on the Arsenal of WAR.

1,000

This is post number 1,000 for Werit's Blog. It also turned 3 years old a few days ago, which I completely forgot about.  It's hard to believe that three years have gone by so quickly.  In June 2008 I started up this site to talk about Warhammer Online, and I still am.

1.4.3 Patch Notes

On Friday, Kai (Warhammer Online Community Manager) posted the patch notes for the upcoming 1.4.3 patch.  There were not too many surprises, beyond paid name changes, as the focal point of this patch is the Sigmar Tide live event. Continue on for a more detailed look at the patch.

TOR Tatooine Video and a Jawa

Like many others this week, I have been devouring all of the Star Wars: The Old Republic that I can.  Ultimately, I came away disappointed since they still did not give us a release date.  They have restated that the target is still 2011.  I did see some interesting videos though.

The Problem with 6 vs 6

One of the most requested addition to Warhammer Online is a permanent 6 vs 6 scenario.  So far, we have only had these party vs party scenarios during special events.  I can certainly understand why players would want one permanently, but overall I think it is a bad idea for the game.

1.4.3 Scenario Lineup

With the upcoming 1.4.3 patch, the scenario lineup will be changed.  And not a moment too soon as I have just about had it with all of the Gromil Crossing/Thunder Valley pops.  The new lineup is looking pretty good to me, continue on for the details.

Q&A with Space Pirates and Zombies Developer

Yesterday I posted a look at the new game, Space Pirates and Zombies.  The developers of the game were kind enough to answer some questions.  If you like space games in the same vein as Starflight and Star Control 2, you should definitely check this one out.  Continue on for the Q&A.

Space Pirates and Zombies

With a title like Space Pirates and Zombies, how can you go wrong?  SPAZ (nice abbreviation) is a new Indy game which I have been enjoying quite a bit lately.  If I were to relate it to previous games: Starflight, Escape Velocity and Star Control II would come to mind.  Read on for a look at SPAZ.

Arsenal Idea

Yesterday, I was talking to some folks about 6 vs 6 scenarios and the reasons behind the demand for a permanent one.  There are a number of reasons, but one is for the competitive aspect of my team versus your team.  Sadly, there is no real way to quantify that, which gave me an idea for a new Arsenal of WAR feature.

Play as Monster

When Warhammer Online's 1.4 patch launched, one of its new features was being able to play as a Skaven class.  These were not traditional classes, as they had no progression and only a limited set of skills.  Players assumed the role of a Skaven temporarily.  In WAR terms, this is known as 'Play as Monster', not to be confused with Lord of the Rings Online's 'Monster Play.'

May Community Update

Last week, Mythic posted the Warhammer Online May Community Update.  It is full of good information, including details about the upcoming Sigmar Tide live event and the release of the 1.4.3 patch.  It is coming sooner than you think.  Read on for the details.
