Yesterday, I was talking to some folks about 6 vs 6 scenarios and the reasons behind the demand for a permanent one. There are a number of reasons, but one is for the competitive aspect of my team versus your team. Sadly, there is no real way to quantify that, which gave me an idea for a new Arsenal of WAR feature.
Basically, I am thinking of adding a ladder/ranking system to the Arsenal. Using an add-on, it would track all sorts of data and then get uploaded to the website for processing. Scenario wins and losses would be a good and simple example of the kind of data that can be tracked.
There are a couple of hurdles to overcome.
Cheating. It's sad that an honor system cannot succeed, so the data and add-on code must be protected.
Gaming. I can't force players to upload the data, so there is the possibility that they will 'game the system' and only upload favorable results. There are some ways to discourage this sort of behavior though.
The two challenges above are significant. If the data is not accurate, then the whole thing is kinda pointless. I'm not sure if is actually doable, but it might be worth a try. What do you think?
