Reaction

With Gamescom and Gamesday Baltimore complete, it's now time to reflect on what we've heard.  The reaction from the community has been mixed, which is not surprising.  I'm actually torn about the announcement of the RvR Pack.

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I was disappointed with the Q&A Mythic gave at Gamesday Baltimore.  It wasn't that conference in particular, but overall at what we heard from Mythic.  It seems a lot of peoples expectations were not fulfilled.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my expectation was to hear something to get me excited about WAR's future.  That's it.  I don't think that is too high considering they were making an announcement at Europe's largest gaming conference.

Hearing what Skaven are not, does not get me excited.  A new zone does not do much for me unless I know what it is about.  Twenty new renown levels does not mean much if we do not know what they will do for us.  For all we heard, there just wasn't enough details.

Alright, I did say my reaction was mixed, so on to the positive!  I really like the direction BioWare Mythic is going.  The RvR pack structure sounds good so far.  WAR does not need huge monolithic patches like PvE games do.  Variety is much more important than having 3000 more quests.  If this leads to more frequent content additions, full speed ahead.

A new zone to fight in will be very nice.  They have said it will be Skaven themed, so that could mean a lot of underground areas.  Speaking of Skaven, I am really curious to know how they will work. There is plenty of theory-crafting still to be done.

What did you think of the news?
