Monday Gripe: Healer Whining

Yes, it is that time again. For some reason I am especially grouchy this morning. The Eagles and Phillies both won, so I should be happy. Yet here I am working, so I am not.

First let me say I love healers... most of them. We could not win without them. However, there is a small segment of healers that have been especially vocal on the forums since Mythic balanced out the renown that they get.

Now they are all quitting, worst decision ever made, blah, blah. You know the drill. No one wants to hear it, especially me. I play a defensive class, and guess what I end up playing defense! You know that guy guarding the objective or flag, that is me. Guess what I end up doing for a large part of the match, I'll give you a hint... not fighting.

So when the match ends, I get very little of anything. Does this bother me? Not really, because THIS IS A TEAM GAME. It isn't about how much XP or renown I got, it is whether we won or lost. I know this is a foreign concept to some.

Quit your whining and heal so our team can win. And to all the other healers out there, Thanks.

Tell me about it, Werit. I'm a tank, and though I spend most of my time blocking healers from pain, knocking ranged players into a group of melees, and in general being a pain to all the enemy... I don't get much when all is said and done. I don't care though. Because I'm performing my role, and helping my team.

Healers need to suck it up and do the same.

Luckily, CoW healers seem to be about the most selfless and helpful players.

They scaled back the renown and experience that healers get significantly. We just want to be rewarded the same as everyone else. I heal my butt off in scenarios, I can be the top healer but still get very little experience points. Which means it is going to take me even longer to level and keep up with my friends playing dps classes.

I'm still healing in scenarios even with this nerf because that is my job. What is wrong with wanting to be rewarded for my job? Tanks need to be rewarded as well.

They scaled it back because it was way too high and folks were abusing the system. Now it is in line with the rest of us. Some dps do manage to get more, but that should be fixed in due time.

You are being rewarded, like the rest of us. Isn't that and winning enough reward?

ya know, if they rewarded you extra for killing a flag thief, and also returning flags like they do a bit in WSG in WoW, it might encourage more people to play defense.

Wow, then it definitely needed to be nerfed. When I have a pocket healer on my BW, with just the 2 of us in a scenario party, he gets about 5% less xp than me if he ONLY heals me and does NO damage. If he can throw out a dot or two, or tosses the other dps/tanks some heals, it evens out.

Well said. I did some open RvR T2 action last week. And do not know how much XP /renown I got and don't care. All I know if we had a great fight and I had a great time.
In fact I wish I could turn off XP (like in Vanguard). Rank 21 is nice .. bolstered up to 28 in T3 and a king in T2. RARR!
