Mythic minus one

As many of you may have heard, last week Josh Drescher was let go from Mythic.  This was rather surprising news since Josh has been with Mythic and WAR for quite a long time.  What does this mean for WAR going forward?

During our trip to Mythic we did get a chance to meet and have lunch with Josh.  If you have ever seen his videos or followed him on twitter then you have an idea what to expect.  He seemed very passionate about games and WAR in particular.

It is important to note that there has been no word on other employees being laid off.  It could be that it was only Josh.  While layoffs are never a good thing (well, sometimes they are), it may not be an indication of WAR doing poorly.

In my experience, high level people are vulnerable to being laid off for any number of reasons even if the company is doing well.  I have no idea why it happened to Josh, but I don't consider it a sign of more trouble with WAR.  If more employees were let go, it would be a different story.

This kind of news makes it very easy to feel down about WAR and its future.  It doesn't help that we still have no information on what is beyond the next WAR patch.  If we had some clue about what is planned for WAR it would be easier to stay positive.

Mythic and WAR will certainly miss Josh and his passion.  Thanks for everything Josh, hope you land somewhere good soon.
