Nothing but Featured Episodes

One thing I have learned from playing Star Trek Online and to a lesser degree Lord of the Rings Online, is that I do actually like some PvE.  It can't just be any old PvE though.  I've reached a point where I am pretty much finished with standard quest fare in games.

The exception is high quality content like Featured Episodes in STO.  In fact, they are pretty much the only thing I do in STO.  I tried doing a normal quest and just found it intolerable.  My recent time in Rift confirmed this, I just can't do the same old time-wasting quests.

This is one reason I am looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic.  My hope is that Featured Episode quality quests are the norm, not the exception.  The heavy emphasis on story should have me doing quests because I am interested in them, not because I want/need to level.

I know what some of you may be thinking: "Werit, maybe you'd be happier in a single player RPG."  Possibly, but I am hooked to the ever-changing nature of a MMO and some of the social aspects.  I really hope BioWare succeeds in making PvE interesting again.  At least STO is embracing their Featured Episodes and bringing the Foundry online, so I'll have them too.

By the way, the finale of the last Featured Episode was great.  It really felt like an episode from the show.  Plus, it had a cool boss fight at the end.  I found it challenging, which is a rarity in MMO's these days.  I have not decided what to do with my new Reman Bridge Officer yet.
