Fight with Revan

Welcome to the first post of 2015!  Oddly enough, it's about the last part of the Shadow of Revan expansion.  There may be some spoilers.  It ended with a rather nice fight with Revan.  The really cool part was fighting alongside with the characters you dealt with during the expansion.  The fight was never really in doubt, but it was still fun.  It look me a little while to figure out the mechanic during Revan's 'special' phase.  After I did, it was no problem at all.

Blood Hunt Bosses

Last week, when I entered the Blood Hunt Flashpoint (Solo), I recorded the boss fights.  They are usually the most interesting parts of an instance, so I thought why not.  The Mandalorians and Torch were pretty fun fights with good audio.  I actually died during the last fight, which is shown in the video.  The creature fights were just ok.  Overall, it was a pretty fun instance.

Pilgrim's Shadow Packs

After a short hiatus,  I am back with a video.  This weeks showcases the Pilgrim's Shadow Cartel Pack.  I opened maybe 5 of them, with decent results.  Sadly, I did not get any Revan Reborn gear from the packs, I would have sold that on the GTN :)  I also talk a bit about the expansion.  The video takes places on the wonderful planet of Rishi, where I have spent the last week and a half.

Sandcrawler!

One of those most iconic vehicles in Star Wars, to me at least, is the Sandcrawler from Episode 4.  Lets face it, Jawa's are awesome and they have good taste in transportation.  So when they introduced a Sandcrawler decoration for strongholds, I just had to have one.  Now that I have a Tatooine stronghold, it finally made sense to get one.  The GTN had one for 2 million credits, so I scooped it up!

Tatooine Stronghold

One of my recent goals in SWTOR has been to get my hands on a Massive Anti-Air Turret.  These things just look awesome, plus they shoot!  They are not cheap though, and I didn't have any luck getting one in a Seneschal pack.  On The Ebon Hawk, they were going for around 2 million credits.

I decided I would save up for it.  As dallies are not my thing, I earned my credits through PvP.  It wasn't long before I had enough saved up and bought one.  Now, this decoration won't really fit in my Nar Shadda stronghold, or Kaas City/Coruscant.  That leaves Tatooine, which is the most expensive of the lot.

So I broke out the Cartel Coins and bought myself the stronghold.  I have to have someplace to put my new decoration right?  Check out the Turret and the stronghold in the video below!

Episode 13: Seneschal Packs and 12x XP

This week, a new Cartel Pack hit the market.  In the Seneschal Pack, there are a few items that look pretty attractive to me.  First is the Massive Anti-Air turret which looks amazing.  The next is the always just out of reach jukebox.  I ended up opening up 5 packs, did I get anything that I want?  During the second half of the video I talk a bit about the 12x XP bonus which came with the Shadow of Revan pre-order.

P.S.  Seneschal means:  the steward or major-domo of a medieval great house

Episode 11: Arena

In this weeks episode of Werit at War, we fight in one of the arenas.  It was actually a pretty decent match.  They had stealthers, we had healers.  Who will emerge victorious?  This video is a bit shorter than previous ones.  My time was a bit more limited due to family obligations.  Next week I am going to change things up a bit and cover a different game.  Have no fear SWTOR, it is just a week break.

Episode 10: Packs and Conquest

Friday already, where did the week go?  It was a pretty quiet week for me as far as SWTOR goes.  My time was limited, but I did get on to do some warzones.  I also opened four Cartel Packs since there was a new batch out.  I'm not big on gambling, but I don't mind playing around with it a little bit.  I mostly just use my monthly allotment.  Last time I got a Bantha, so that improved the whole system in my eyes :)

Episode 9: Rakata Prime

It's Friday!  For this weeks video, I played the Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoint.  This wraps up the Forged Alliances story arc with a surprise ending.  You know who is back in town!  The Flashpoint itself was pretty cool.  Great scenery but a bit on the easy side.  I don't mind too much though as I just played it for the story.

The video contains all three boss fights, abbreviated.  It was much too long with the full fights so I edited it down to a much more manageable six minutes.  Enjoy!

Episode 8: Setting Up Shop

Wow, over two months of playing SWTOR and eight videos.  Time flies!  In this weeks episode, we take a little tour of my Republic Base of Operations on Nar Shaddaa.  It's still pretty sparse, but coming along nicely.  I also do a little pre-fab crafting and acquire some more decorations.  To finish it up, we place them in my stronghold.  So far, I am enjoying GSH quite a bit!

Not Top Gun

This week I played a lot of SWTOR's Galactic Starfighter.  I hadn't really played it since it launched, so I was pretty much going in fresh.  As the video shows, I did not know what was going on.  You may actually get worse at GSF by watching the video, you have been warned.  The graphics look fantastic in my opinion, so it was fun to fly around.  I also talk a bit about what I did with my Imperial Agent.

Episode 6: Manaan

In this weeks episode of Werit at War, we take a look at the Depths of Manaan Flashpoint.  It is the latest, at the time of this writing, entry into the Forged Alliances story arc.  I also talk about Forged Alliances, so there will be some minor spoilers.  It's starting to get pretty interesting, can't wait for Part 3 coming September 9th!

Episode 5: 2.9 Arrives

It's Friday, that means it is time for another video!  That makes 5 weeks in a row, so far so good.  SWTOR's Galactic Strongholds expansion has arrived.  In this video, we quickly decorate my house, open a few Cartel Packs, and talk about the new Conquest system.  Give it a watch, I try to keep these things short.  This one was tough though, lots to talk about!

Strongholds Video

I told myself that I would not go on the PTS.  I would wait for the patch to go live, and then check out Strongholds.  Needless to say, those plans were short-lived.  I just could not resist the allure of new stuff to play around with.  So I spent a little time checking out the Nar Shaddaa Stronghold.  Of course, I made a video about it.

StarDrive Alpha Video

Testing has begun for the upcoming 4X game, StarDrive.  For an intro to the game, check out this post.  The game is still in its early stages, but I am impressed enough that I want to start showing it off.  First up, lets check out the scale of the game.

You are able to zoom out to a galactic view, then zoom in all the way to the individual ship.  The one is the video is your flagship, which you directly control.

At the end of the video I show off the firing arcs.  Each weapon has its own arc and range, making placement very important.  When showing the arcs, you also get a view of the ships design, which I found to be really cool.  I can't wait to get in there and customize my ships.

Bounty Hunter PvP

Sadly, the SWTOR beta has come to an end.  I was in it for a couple of months and had a great time.  Luckily, the launch of the game is only 10 days away!  A week or so ago I made a video of my level 15 Bounty Hunter Mercenary in the Alderaan warzone.  PvP is better than I thought it would be in The Old Republic, not perfect, but pretty fun.

As you can see from the video, I am doing some healing.  That is one nice thing about the classes in this game, they are all hybrids.  While all Mercenaries can heal, I've been concentrating on the Bodyguard tree which enhances healing.

Once of the interesting abilities Mercenaries get is Combat Support Cylinder.  When active, it changes your spammable attack (pistol shots in my case).  When targeted at an enemy it does damage as you would expect. When an ally is targeted, it will heal them.  It's a small heal, but does not build up an Heat so you can always be using it.

The Bounty Hunter is a fun class and very versatile.  So it comes as no surprise that warzones were crawling with them (and Sorcerers).  Can't go wrong with fun combat and a good story.

Black Fire Pass

One of the big features of last weekends beta sessions for Wrath of Heroes was a new scenario:  Black Fire Pass.   This brings the total count up to three ( Mourkain Temple and the Arena ).  Basically, you want to capture 3 runes and have them all secured at your base.  When you do, your side gets points.

It was a fun scenario, once I figured out what was going on.  There is a bit more running around than in The Arena, but the runes add a tactical element.  The setting is also nice, with plenty of walls and obstacles which can be used to break line of sight.

I did make a video of my first BFP match, which you can see below.  This was my first video since I got a new monitor, so I finally joined the 1920 x 1080 video club :)

Sword of the Stars 2: First Look

I just can't help myself when it comes to 4x strategy games.  My plan was to wait for one of those crazy Steam sales to purchase Sword of the Stars 2, instead I bought it when it was released.  I deceided to make a First Look video, which shows my first 15 minutes with the game plus commentary.

Sadly, the launch of the game had some problems.  It is still playable (as the video shows) and they are working hard to fix the issues.

College of Corruption Video

Yesterday during the PTS event, we got our first look at the new scenario: the College of Corruption.  I played a  few instances of it and took some video.  Mythic experimented with the amount of people playing from test to test, which you may notice in the video.  18 vs 18 was tried first, then 6 vs 6.  Continue on for the video.

Scenario Experiment

Last weekend, Mythic tried something new with a couple of their scenarios.  Gromil Crossing and Thunder Valley had their player amounts upped from 12 vs 12 to 18 vs 18.  The goal was to increase the action by increasing the amount of participants.  Did it succeed?  Continue on for a video.
