Fight and Craft

What are two of my favorite activities in a MMO?  Correct!  By fight, I mean against other players.  It takes a real good story for me to care about beating down some helpless NPC's.  Prime: Battle for Dominus looks to be focusing on those two activities, which sounds good to me.

Who to choose?

League of Legends is still occupying some of my game time.  I do like how you usually get a match within a minute of logging on.  I still play Fiddlesticks quite a bit, but I like to try new ones when they shuffle their weekly list.  This week, two champions have caught my eye.  I will purchase one of them, but which one?

Defend your Keep

One of the features Mythic is working on for the 1.4.4 patch is adding incentive for defending your realms keeps.  Prior to 1.4, players in the vicinity of the keep received defensive ticks consisting of renown and tokens.  With the arrival of the new campaign, these ticks were removed.

Time to blow it up

You might recall one of my side projects, Stellar Fortune.  If not, it's a small game I had been making in which the player took on the role of a space trader.  I have not posted about it much lately, mainly because there has been quite a bit to talk about with Warhammer Online.  The project lives, but is in for a big change.

WAR hits the road

It is the gaming convention season and the folks at Mythic will not be left out.  We already knew that they would be attending Gamesday Chicago, but last week we found out that they will be attending a few more conferences.  Continue on for some details about Mythic's upcoming agenda.

News from the Front: Is it hot in here?

It's been a bit warm here in the Northeast US this week.  Today the heat index is going to be upwards of 115 degrees.  Add in the fact I seem to be suffering from a cold during the hottest day of the year, and it makes for an unpleasant week.  Anyway, on to the WAR news!

Yep, I'm one of them

I woke up this morning to an e-mail, which was not too much of a surprise.  It seems that Star Wars: The Old Republic is now available for pre-order.  Is there a release date yet?  No, but we can order the game which will be out at some point.  It took me all of 20 seconds to decided what to do.

Fiddlesticks

As I mentioned last week, I have been playing a bit of League of Legends. One of the interesting aspect of the game is the sheer amount of Champions a player can choose.  I think there are around 80 of them.  Players only have access to 10 at a time unless they purchase more (through in-game influence points or RMT).  Last week, a certain Champion caught my eye.

Where to fight?

Last week Warhammer Online's Producer, James Casey, posed some questions to the community.  This time he asked for ideas about where people would like to fight.  The Warhammer Online game world has some spectacular locations which are rarely seen since they are located in PvE areas.  Which should be brought into RvR or a scenario?

Prime BFD

Prime Battle for Dominus is an upcoming MMO with an awesome abbreviation, BFD.  A few bloggers I know have been talking about this new game.  So what is it about in a nutshell: 3 sided open world PvP.  Yea, that is enough to get me interested.  Be sure to read the recent Q&A transcript too.

News from the Front: Location, Location, Location

This week marked the end of the Sigmartide Live Event.  I thought it was pretty fun, but lets save that for another post.  Even though the College of Corruption has left us, the Gates of Ekrund remains for the weekend.  Most of my WAR time was spent doing scenarios, very close to my first RR81 weapon. What else has been going on?

League of Legends Progress

League of Legends is another game I tried out this week.  I know, I'm a little bit behind the times.  It's a rather interesting game.  I did the first tutorial and then headed straight for the PvP matches.  No time to waste on bots!  It started out rough, but yesterday I finally won my first match!

Attention WAR Subscribers

Yesterday, while perusing the forums I came across this post.  There have been several account center maintenance periods lately, in which they were transferring over to the EA Billing system.  The important part of this is that, for security reasons, no billing information was transferred.  That means your subscription is no longer set to renew (maybe not, continue on for an UPDATE).

Team Spy-Kills-Werit-Again 2

I mentioned Monday that I was going to try to work in a few more games into my rotation.  Team Fortress 2 is one of those games.  My first impressions were quite good.  I was not expecting such a polished and smooth experience.  However, there are aspects of the game already wearing down my enjoyment.

1.4.3 Engineer Build

The arrival of the 1.4.3 patch brought some interesting changes to the Engineer career with it.  Enough that I ended up changing my build and equipment to take advantage of some of the new options.  So far, I am enjoying my new setup, we'll see how it does as time goes on though.

Variety

Between the 1.4.3 patch and our recent adventure down at the Mythic offices, I have been hitting WAR pretty hard over the last month.  Now that Sigmartide is just about over (I'll miss you Aspect, call me) I figure it is time to change things up a bit.  This week I'm going to introduce some new games into my playtime.

Back from Mythic

Yesterday, myself and several other bloggers were invited down to the BioWare Mythic offices to check out what they were up to.  It was quite a busy day.  I didn't get to to tweet as much as I would have liked since we were very busy.  It was a lot of fun though, and I am looking forward to what we saw.  Let's get down to some details.

Off to Mythic

Over the past couple of weeks, I have mentioned that something will be going on with Warhammer Online on July 6th, which happens to be tomorrow. In the comments of my last post, a few readers guessed correctly.  Several bloggers, including myself, have been invited to come down to the Mythic HQ.

NOTE:  I'm back from the trip!  Here is the recap

Next Week

Wow, it's July already. Feels like I spent most of June writing about WAR and the 1.4.3 patch.  I'm pretty happy with it so far and I really do enjoy the new College of Corruption scenario.  And it's not just because I'm winning, it's been pretty even in my experience.  Last week, I said something about Mythic...
