This Old Villa

Don't you just hate it when you go off to take care of some business and come home to find that your estate has been hijacked and your villa burned down?  That is the situation you find yourself in the upcoming MMO, Gods and Heroes.  Over the weekend, I took a look at their Estate system.

News from the Front: 1.4.3

It's been a fun week game wise for me.  I've mostly been playing WAR and SPAZ (Space Pirates and Zombies).  More on SPAZ next week though.  It's Friday and there is Warhammer Online news to share, including more details about the 1.4.3 patch.

Arsenal Experiment

I've been working on a new feature for the Arsenal of WAR and could use a little help testing it.  All you have to do is mouseover the link below.  A tooltip should appear within a couple of seconds.

UPDATE:  10:46 EST,  A new version is up... please try again.  You may have to clear your browser cache.

Wrathbringer Pistol
Warpforged Gauntlets of the Dreadsword
Defender of Deathless Glory

If nothing appeared, please let me know which browser you were using, thanks!  It's still a work in progress, so the tooltip is not complete.

May Engineering Report

Even though Cryptic received some confusing news, Star Trek Online seems to still be moving full speed ahead. Every month they release an Engineering report, which lists their current and future projects. If only other games would be this open.  Let's take a look at this months report.

L.A. Noire Disappointment

L.A. Noire is one of the hot new games out.  On Metacritic it's getting a solid 90/7.4 in Reviewer and User scores respectively.  I was pretty excited about the game, as I am a fan of the Adventure genre.  For the first time in a while a big budget game for the genre was coming out.  I'm sad to report that I'm just not enjoying L.A. Noire very much.

Mythic at Games Day

The last time we saw Mythic at a conference was Gamescom in 2010.  They announced more details about the 1.4 Skaven themed RvR Pack.  They also hit up Games Day and dropped some hints there as well.  It turns out that Mythic will also be at this year's Games Day too.  Read on for the details.

Weekend Plans

So many games, so little time.  Since it's Friday, I started to think about what I will do game wise over the weekend.  According to my calculations, I'm going to actually need a 3 or 4 day weekend to do what I want.  Somebody out there, please get the work week shortened a bit, thanks!

WAR Controls

Last Week, Warhammer Online Producer James Casey posted a new Developer Discussion thread.  The purpose of which was to gather feedback about the control scheme players used.  There are a number of theories about why he'd ask, SWTOR or some other new game are likely candidates.

Atari Strikes Again

The big news yesterday was that Atari and Cryptic have 'parted ways.'  It seems that Cryptic has been dragging down Atari's bottom line, so they have basically cut them loose.  What does it really mean?  I'm not sure.  Cryptic is still in business and there have been no reported layoffs yet.

WAR Prognostication

One of the best things about a MMO is that they are never really finished.  This allows for some fun theorycrafting about what may be coming up next.  Mykiel, of Podcast the Webcast fame, recently aired a video where he gave his thoughts about what's coming up for Warhammer Online.

Estates

I had meant for this post to go out on Friday but Bloggers outage pushed it to this week.  Gods and Heroes is a new MMO which will be released in a few weeks.  One of its more interesting features is their Estate system.  Basically, instead of your own house you get a zone.  Continue on for more details and a Developer video.

New Instance for Sigmar Tide?

One of the major features of the upcoming 1.4.3 patch is a new Live Event called Sigmar Tide. Not much is known about the event yet, but I did a little digging and found some potentially interesting information. It does look like we will be getting a new instance to go along with the event. Continue on for more details.

Nice and slow

Yesterday I finished up The Breen Featured Episode series in STO.  This was their first attempt but still pretty fun.  Star Trek Online is really carving a niche out for itself among PvE MMO's.  Unlike many of its counterparts, there is really no need to rush to the 'endgame.'

Live Q&A for Gods and Heroes

The developers of the upcoming MMO Gods and Heroes will be holding a live Q&A this afternoon at 1pm EDT.  If you don't know much about the game, this might be a good opportunity to see what's going on.  You can find Q&A here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/chat-with-g-h-devs or embedded below.

Crafting Discussion

In the April Community Update, crafting was one area that Mythic was looking to improve.  One of their first steps was to gather feedback on what the players liked and didn't like about the current systems.  James Casey created a new Developer Discussion for that purpose.  Below is my feedback.

Weekend Gaming

With the plague on its way out, I was ready to return to the world of gaming this weekend.  Three games were played, but only two which I have talked about on this blog.  I'm taking a little break from console gaming, since I've been hitting that hard over the last couple of months.  Really needed to get through some of the backlog.

WAR and TOR Stuff

My plans to do The Breen Featured Episode yesterday were thwarted by some kind of diabolic plague.  So perhaps I will get that started today, as it is only available for 7 days.  Not quite enough WAR news for a News from the Front, so today it'll be a mix of WAR and TOR.

Bring on the Breen

Star Trek Online is in a bit of a lull right now as the team gets ready for the release of Season 4.  Sadly, this has meant no more Featured Episodes.  To help fill the content gap, they are starting reruns tomorrow. I mean rerun in a good way this time.  Read on for the details!

Q&A with WAR Producer James Casey

Warhammer Online's Producer, James Casey, was kind enough to take some time and answer a few questions.  The WAR team is pretty busy these days, so the amount of questions was kept low.  Thanks James!  Read on for the Q&A.

Playing Hector: Badge of Carnage

One of the first games I ever played on the PC was King's Quest.  Back then, the game pretty much blew my mind.  Many other adventure games followed, until they eventually fell out of style.  Companies like Telltale have been trying to bring them back.  Over the weekend I bought one of their latest offerings, Hector: Episode 1.
